Entry requirements

Applications are now open for intakes starting from October 2025 onwards.

You must demonstrate a minimum level of English proficiency to study on our Pathway to English Language and Academic Skills course. 

The minimum entry requirements are outlined below: 

Term	Term Dates 2025/26	Minimum Term Entry Requirements
Term 1	Monday, 6 October 2025 - Friday, 12 December 2025	Applicants must have a minimum of an IELTS score between 4.5 - 5.0 overall, with no less than 4.5 in any sub-skill
Term 2	Monday, 12 January 2026 - Friday, 20 March 2026	Applicants must have a minimum of an IELTS score between 5.0 - 5.5 overall, with 5.0 in writing and no less than 4.5 in any sub-skill
Term 3	Monday, 6 April 2026 - Friday, 12 June 2026	Applicants must have a minimum of an IELTS score between 5.0 - 5.5 overall, with 5.0 in writing and no less than 4.5 in any sub-skill

We offer some flexibility to students who do not have an English language qualification. Please contact the admissions team for further guidance englishlanguage@manchester.ac.uk

All applicants are expected to attend a short 10-minute online interview to assess your speaking skills and discuss learning requirements.
