Face-to-Face scheme

Meet up with speakers of different languages to exchange conversation.

What is it?

Face-to-Face is an informal way of meeting up with speakers of different languages to exchange conversation. It's open to all students and staff of The University of Manchester. All you need is your UoM email address. Once you have joined the scheme, you will be given access to an online noticeboard from where you can contact potential language partners.

How do I apply?

Contact angela.farrand@manchester.ac.uk

Please note: The Face-to-Face scheme will not be running in Semester 1 of the 2025/26 session.

Other conversation exchange schemes offered by the University include:

  • The Languages Café hosts regular events for lovers of language to meet up for a free coffee, exchange language tips and tricks, and build confidence in their language skills. It's open to all staff and students across the University.  Look out for Languages Café posters promoting their events.
  • The Mandarin Corner offers UoM students and the general public the opportunity to practice their Chinese language skills and discuss Chinese culture.
  • The Language Society is one of a range of Students' Union clubs and societies that cater for students interested in other languages and cultures.
