UCAE teaching activity
Find out about the courses we teach in the centre and across the University.
In addition to the courses delivered by UCAE, we also contribute teaching across a range of courses and modules throughout the University.
We offer a range of Pre-sessional courses delivered online and on campus. Our 10-week and 6-week courses allow students to meet their English language condition, with progression rates above 96%.
Our 4-week and 2-week courses help students who have already met their English language condition to develop their confidence in academic English in preparation for their academic course.
We start planning for the next year as soon as the courses finish in September.
For more information on the Pre-sessional English courses, visit our Pre-sessional courses webpage.
The Academic Success Programme provides free in-sessional academic English language support for all students across the University.
Throughout the year, we offer interactive workshops in four-week blocks, designed to build students' confidence in academic English. These workshops focus on key skills, including speaking, writing and grammar, helping students communicate effectively in their studies.
We have recently introduced a new workshop designed to help students understand how to use AI effectively and responsibly in line with University and School guidelines.
We also offer tailored academic writing workshops to all PhD candidates, delivered through Faculty specific sessions to provide more focused support.
