Master’s and undergraduate students

Our Academic English workshops are freely available to all registered students at The University of Manchester.

These workshops have been both an excellent refresher and a huge confidence boost! The element of flipped learning was great; it allowed me to prepare for the workshop so I could go in with confidence… I also really appreciated the opportunity to attend remotely, and I was impressed that the online workshops were very interactive and engaging!

Postgraduate Student / MA Classics & History, School Of Arts, Languages & Cultures

We’re ready to support you in 2022-2023. Our workshops cover the key skills you need to succeed – with various options for studying online.

Our academic writing workshops are specialised for each Faculty, with the aim of giving you the particular support you need to write successfully. We offer a total of eight workshops, conveniently grouped into blocks of four, and covering key topics such as writing with academic style, organising your ideas and explaining your position.

To complement these, we recommend our two blocks of four workshops on academic grammar, getting you up to speed with the finer points of sentence structure, emphasising ideas and dealing with uncertainty.

We believe that attending these workshops will make a significant contribution to your performance on your main study programme and help you achieve your full academic potential.

Please note: enrolment for our Academic Success Programme workshops are now closed for Semester 1.

However, we are running some standalone workshops in December, please see the details below:
